Since both of these things happened in May, we spent most of June preparing the house to put on the market. Our realtor had a stager give us some helpful hints and I think everything turned out great. Some of the things we accomplished:
- We moved the futon into the guest bedroom and the craft table that was currently in there out to our Garage Mahal (garage converted into bonus room).
- We hung an IKEA curtain rail to separate the office/craft area from the storage/laundry area in the Garage Mahal.
- I reupholstered an ottoman that was looking a little rough. It turned out beautifully and I did it all without sewing a thing!
- We patched holes, touched-up paint and moved around some artwork.
- Mike worked outside making all of our flower beds and gardens pretty.
- Mike repainted the guest bathroom.
We put our house on the market on June 20 and immediately had people interested in seeing it. In the course of the month, we had over 30 private showings and 3 open houses. Every time we had a showing, Mike had to go home and get Samson for about 30 minutes. During the week we usually didn't have more than one a day but the weekends, we had 3, 4, up to 6 showings one day. We were in and out of the house all day long. It got really tiring. Since we were somewhat on a tight schedule (we want to be moved in before Lil' Wasaff arrives) we decided to lower our price a bit.

We lowered the price last Friday night and got an offer Saturday morning! We were completely thrilled and accepted the offer on Sunday!
Next up the hunt for our new abode...
