| He discovered the sticker! I had to snap fast because he kept peeling it off! |
At 1 year old he can pull himself up (to everything!), while standing and holding onto something he can reach for an object on the floor and stand back up, and he can sit back down. He can stand by himself for about a minute. My guess is that he'll be walking by the new year!
During his appointment his doctor said he is doing great! Our next appointment will be at 15 months. Below are his stats.
Weight: 18 lbs, 3%
Height: 29 in, 25%
Head Circumference: 47 cm, 69%
He's still a little guy. It'll be interesting to see at what point he starts falling into the average range.
Sleep
Maxwell is still sleeping through the night - 12 + hours. No complaints here! Ok, one small complaint. He is so sleepy when he gets home from daycare that we don't get to spend much time with him M-F. We get home around 5:45 and he's in bed by 6:45. We definitely cherish the weekends! Speaking of weekends, he is still napping twice a day on the weekend even though his schedule at school is for one nap around noon (they are preparing him for the toddler room which he'll transition to in a few months.) I don't know how they keep him up until noon! He's ready for a nap around 10 am on the weekend. I try to push it as long as possible but he seems miserable so I put him down and he goes right to sleep. That is what normally happens, although a few weekends ago I put him down because he was obviously very tired and he wouldn't have it! He had recently learned to stand in his crib so he was standing and talking and then standing and crying. He finally went to sleep. He did the same thing in the afternoon so I took him out thinking maybe he was ready to drop that nap. Well he wasn't because he practically fell asleep eating dinner so we put him to bed around 5:30 pm and he slept until 6:30 the next morning.

Eat
He is still a pretty good eater. Although, lately, he'll eat something that he normally loves like pasta and then spit it back out for some reason. I know the day he starts rejecting vegetables is going to come soon. I just keep giving him the food again at another meal in the hopes that he forgot he didn't like it earlier. We have transitioned to milk. It wasn't the smoothest transition due to some constipation issues but we have discovered he does like prunes - so that helps!

Maxwell has so much fun playing with his toys but what he really loves are books. He has these little hand-size board books that he thumbs through all the time. And he loves being read to. He will sit in your lap and let you read book after book to him. That's been fun for both me and Mike. We've been reading him our childhood faves. Although, there are many children's books out there that make me think I could be a children's book author, that's for sure!
