Lil' Wasaff: 2 weeks

Maxwell had his two week appointment last week and the doctor was so impressed by his weight gain! He was 8 lbs. 4 oz. He had almost gained a full pound in 2 weeks. I thought he had been nursing well so it was reassuring to hear from the doctor that we were right on track.

He had also grown a full inch in height and was now 21 inches. His head circumference was 37 (cm? I guess). They also gave us the percentiles but said not to put too much stock into it. She said he was about average size.

Weight - 31%
Height - 57%
Head Circumference - 43%

He checked out perfectly and they said to come back at 1 month and again 2 months to start his vaccinations.

After a clean bill of health, at the end of that week his eye started looking weird and I thought it might be pink eye. My baby was now three weeks old and had his first infection! I felt so awful for him. I took him to the doctor and they actually couldn't tell if it was pink eye or a clogged tear duct. They gave me antibiotic ointment to be safe. His eye looks better, so I think it may have been an infection. However, if it comes back then it's the tear duct. He wasn't around anyone who had pink eye so we are not sure how he got it. But I felt like an awful parent for him to have gotten sick so early! Luckily, he was a trooper and didn't act any different, he was eating and sleeping fine!
