First Tri Screen

On May 2, we had our First Trimester Screen. I was so nervous for this appointment since it had been a couple weeks since we have heard the heartbeat. Neither of us were prepared for what we saw on the screen. There is a little person inside of me!!! He/She was floating around, kicking and waving its hands. It was seriously one of the coolest things I've ever seen!

The purpose of this ultrasound was to check for down syndrome and other chromosome abnormalities. The ultrasound technichian needed the baby to be in a certain position to take the measurements, so we got to see the baby on the screen from many different angles for about 20 minutes. She was finally able to get the measurements she needed and thought everything looked great.

I finished out the screen with a blood test. They take my age, the measurements and blood test all in conjunction when telling me if my risk is positive or negative. They called me with the results today and told me my risk was negative!

Just seeing the baby moving around on the screen was enough to put me at ease for awhile. We weren't able to take video but they did send us home with a ton of pictures. I took a picture of one of them and have posted below.

When seeing he/she on the screen I could easily tell what was what, but now, looking at this picture, I have no idea what you're looking at. :)

Lil' Wasaff Relaxing!

We saw Dr. Kuhlman on the following Tuesday to discuss the results of this screen and he confirmed everything looks great!
Oh and we were not able to tell the sex of the baby so I guess I'll have to wait two more months to find out!
