Sharing the News

Now that we have heard the heartbeat, we could not wait to tell family and friends! First up was my mom and Roger. We wanted to tell them over Skype so we could show them the video. However, we never Skype with them so we told them we wanted to show them something we just got. I was hoping she thought we got a new car or puppy.

We played the video for them and it was so fun seeing their reaction!! Much better than sharing the news over the phone. Needless to say they were thrilled!! Mom has already started plugging baby names. Although, Mike and I have agreed that we will be sharing the sex of the baby but the name will be revealed once Lil' Wasaff is born! Incidentally, mom did think we were going to show them a new puppy!

Satruday was going to be a big day of sharing. First up was Mike's mom. We drove to the Bastrop Farmer's Market where Deborah has a stand to share the news with her. Mike showed her the video and she seemed shocked! Teary eyed, she gave us a big hugs of congratulations! Mike's Uncle Mike and cousin Zoey happened to be at the market that day. They were walking up to Deborah's stand when she was crying and giving me a hug. They were quite confused as to what was going on. It was fun to share the news with them as well!

Next stop, my dad's house. On the way from Bastrop to my dad's, we had made calls to Mike's sisters and his dad to share the news.

We had made plans with my dad to go with them to Desiree's Jazz Festival at her school for a BBQ lunch.
We enjoyed our BBQ lunch out on the lawn watching the different musical acts. After lunch, we showed the video to my dad and Anita. It was really sunny so at first my dad didn't know what he was looking at but he figured it out soon enough!

After the BBQ we rushed home because we were going to Skype with my grandparents next! They don't have Skype but we really wanted to Skype with them so Roger went over ahead of time to set up his camera on their computer and create a Skype account for them. On my mom's side, I'm the oldest grandchild by 13 years so my grandparents are ready to be great-great grandparents! They were very excited! I can't wait for them to meet Lil' Wasaff!

That was our Saturday of sharing! On Sunday I called my cousins Maria and Grace and left messages with them. That night neither had called me back so I sent them a text to share the news. They both called right away and we were able to do a three way conversation! That was a lot of fun. We have a small family on my mom's side so this is definitely big news!

It was so fun telling family - everyone was so happy and excited for us! They know it has been a long time coming!!
